Short answer: Yes. I built Filechat to be as locked down as possible. Here is how it actually works without all the technical jargon.
Everything you type is scrambled right inside your own browser before it ever hits the internet. Because you pick the "Secret Key," nobody not even me can read what you're sending. If someone tried to spy on the database, they’d just see a bunch of random gibberish.
I don't believe in keeping logs. As soon as your friend sees the message, it's deleted from the server forever. If a message sits there for more than 15 minutes without being read, it gets wiped anyway. Once you log out, your browser memory is cleared out too.
1. Don't lose your key: If you forget the key you and your friends agreed on, you can't read the messages. There's no "forgot password" button here.
2. Use common sense: This is a tool for privacy, but don't use it for anything stupid. It's meant for keeping your chats and notes between you and the people you trust.
